Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has appealed to Indians to travel to Sri Lanka in greater numbers, saying it will help his country facing financial crisis. Sri Lankan tourism’s ‘brand ambassador’ Jayasuriya, while addressing an event organized by the Sri Lankan Consulate here on Wednesday, said that due to the large number of Indian nationals coming to Sri Lanka, it will get a higher amount of foreign revenue.
He said, “The last three-four months have been very difficult for us and during that time there was wide media coverage including in India. But now I feel that Sri Lanka’s roadmap has been different after the changes. We want to go in a new direction.
Despite facing all the troubles, the cricket team of this country has created a big history. The Sri Lankan team surprised everyone by winning the Asia Cup 2022 trophy. The Sri Lankan team overcame even stronger teams like India and Pakistan and won their sixth Asia Cup title. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the final of this big tournament. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga won the Player of the Tournament title in the Asia Cup.
