Here is a portion of his complete interview.

IPL is currently highest watched Sports

Rica: The BCCI won big this week. The IPL media rights were sold for a staggering 48,000 crore rupees. The IPL baby, which cost a billion dollars, is now a billion-dollar teen. How would you characterize the change?
Modi, Lalit: It was always going to be profitable, but the most important thing is how many people watch it. that is how we make money. The number of viewers per game is now probably the highest anywhere in the world.I have always maintained that the IPL can survive a recession. Having to do with India, and we are getting more and more support from new fans. But going forward, we need to be careful because the younger generation is very picky and primarily digital. Because of this, the cost of digital rights has skyrocketed. However, their ability to watch it on a particular platform hasn’t been great in India right now. At the moment, the jio platform is not particularly user-friendly. When you turn the phone from the horizontal to the vertical position, it doesn’t capture that. As a result, the fans lost faith in it, and as I talked to them, they are very disappointed.

Rica: Your passion project was IPL. Corruption, spot-fixing, and even team bans have been blamed on the league. Do you believe that IPL has been able to clean up its act now?
Modi, Lalit: it has. It has done it successfully and is moving in the right direction. The Gujarat Titans’ first-season victory demonstrates that there is no faith in the game and that nothing can be fixed. It has taken a new turn, and I have always maintained that Ahmedabad is one of the key areas. I have tried for a long time to get them into the system, and I’m really glad that Ahmedabad is now in it because they have performed exceptionally well in the previous series.
